Be the Cause

Unity and Diversity Award

On December 10, 2006, the Los Angeles-based Unity and Diversity World Council honored many individuals, organizations and networks at their Peace Sunday event. Be The Cause was recognized for its on-going work. Vivek and I went to pick the award up at the LA Baha’i Center where event was held.

The program was awesome (too bad I got there late). Speakers touched on important hot-button issues like global warming, and what spirited service (spiritual practice for some) can do for our world. All kinds of different organizations had tables with literature, one even had samples (they’re into community gardening). An Iranian duo performed moving music–I think the Council also conferred upon them an award for their positive music and service.

I say give ourselves more than a pat on the back–give yourself a hug, right now. We might not give service for recognition. I’m willing to guess, however, that any positive acknowledgement we get means we should keep up whatever it is we’re doing because it works.
